NEW YORK (TheStreet) -- With the Federal Reserve's two-day FOMC meeting scheduled to begin on Tuesday, TheStreet's Brittany Umar wants to know what Jim Cramer is thinking ahead of the event.
Cramer said the market has not priced in a tapering announcement, at this point. When Larry Summers withdrew from running for the position of next chairman of the Fed, markets rallied hard and stopped worrying about a taper.
He added that the market has essentially decided that a decision on tapering doesn't matter -- which typically means that it actually will matter when the announcement is released.
Equity markets are no longer setup for disappointment and are looking for a completely benign announcement. Anything that doesn't fit that blueprint will likely send the market lower. Cramer went on to say that Bernanke could cause interest rates to spike higher -- which fell dramatically on Monday. To take advantage of this, he said he would be a seller of Treasury bonds and likes regional banks at a certain point, since they will benefit from rising rates. Cramer concluded that a rise in interest rates would result in a selloff for the stock market, but because so many things are going right, the selling will likely have trouble gaining any momentum. -- Written by Bret Kenwell in Petoskey, Mich. Nokia's HERE division is worth E1bn assuming a similar market cap as TomTom (TMOAF.PK) but offers significant upside as maps become the next platform for e-commerce. Assuming Nokia's net cash position declines to E2bn at Q3 from E4.1bn in Q2 (given the E1.7bn NSN deal as well as incremental cash burn due to supporting product launches), the combined value of Nokia's Net Cash, HERE division and NSN division is in line with the current market cap of Nokia.

Steelmaker U.S. Steel (NYSE: X ) was another beneficiary, advancing 4.4% on the day. However, unlike Cliffs, which I think has a strong chance to rebound, I'm not nearly as enthusiastic about U.S. Steel, which boasts nearly $3.4 billion in net debt and is a very heavily shorted stock. There are other strong options in the steel sector that have far less debt to contend with, and I'd suggest not being tempted by today's rally in spite of Alcoa's strong results.

The recent sell-off in precious metals has boosted the dividend yield on various silver companies, including Silver Wheaton (NYSE: SLW ) . Current conditions give investors the chance to own this best-in-class silver streaming company with both a strong income element and plenty of upside. Unlike miners Pan American Silver (NASDAQ: PAAS ) and Silvercorp Metals (NYSE: SVM ) , which offer higher dividend yields, Silver Wheaton has important advantages.

If you've been paying any attention to the financial markets lately, you know that gold has gotten absolutely crushed over the past few weeks. There is, however, an asset that has been hit even harder: silver. With silver hovering around a critical technical level, the price action over the next days and weeks could be critical. In the meantime, Pan American Silver (NASDAQ: PAAS ) and Silver Wheaton (NYSE: SLW ) offer attractive dividends for investors who want to keep an allocation to silver.

As the mineralized zone seems to be open to the north and the south, I personally expect this project to reach the threshold of 10 billion pounds of copper in the next resource update. The only negative thing is the fact the Josemaria project is located in Argentina, which isn't really a mining-friendly country. It will be an interesting case to see how NGEX and Pan Pacific Copper will be able to move this project forward after Pan American Silver (PAAS) ran into problems with its La Navidad Silver project last year. Fortunately for NGEX Resources, it's not the federal government but the local states who have the prerogative about mining permits and licenses, and the San Juan province is one of the most mining-friendly provinces.

Gold fell below the key $1,300 level Thursday, raising new fears about whether the yellow metal's rally to begin 2014 is now over. Yet, mining companies fared well today, with silver specialists Hecla Mining (NYSE: HL ) and Pan American Silver (NASDAQ: PAAS ) posting solid gains of around 2% Thursday. What explains the disconnect that sent SPDR Gold Shares (NYSEMKT: GLD ) down, but Market Vectors Gold Miners (NYSEMKT: GDX ) up?

What do small cap stocks MKS Instruments, Inc. (NASDAQ:MKSI), Tanger Factory Outlet Centers Inc. (NYSE:SKT), and Kaman Corporation (NYSE:KAMN) have in common? Absolutely nothing, on the surface, and no, it's not a setup for painfully bad punchline. There is a common thread among KAMN, SKT, and MKSI right now, however... they're all three going into my mental (though publicly-tracked) portfolio this afternoon.
